Students/Residents
As a student or resident you represent an important part of the future spinecare team. Students, residents and fellows are eligible to apply for Candidate membership with the American Academy of Spine Physicians (AASP).
The American Academy of Spine Physicians (AASP) is dedicated to facilitating integrated and evidence-based spinecare. To help accomplish this mission, the AASP expanded its membership categories to include spine specialists in training. This includes students/residents of physical therapy, physician assistant programs, nursing programs, medical technology programs as well as future physician in training (student/resident). This also applies to massage therapists and personal fitness consultants in training who have not yet received certification and/or licensure.
The AASP encourages the development of multidisciplinary spinecare teams which begins with reaching professionals in training. To help Candidate membersâ€â„¢ network with other professionals the Academy provides a variety of resources which includes an online Career Center. The AASP provides all of its members including Candidate members with access to script pads which can be used to direct the public/patients to the online Public Information Center (PIC); a multimedia information database of the International Spine Association (ISA).
Professionals in training have a growing appreciation for the complexity of the spine which encourages the desire to network with other spinecare professionals. Candidate members of the AASP have an opportunity to:
• build relationships with practicing physicians before graduation
• refine their skills as a spine specialist in training
• become familiar with practice building resources
• access online practice planning and development resources
Candidate members can participate in continuing education courses. They can acquire credits which can be applied towards Diplomate status with the American Academy of Spine Physicans (DAASP) and Fellow status with the American College of Spine Physicans (FACSP). The credentialed status will not be conferred until the member has graduated and obtained a license to practice in their field.
We invite you to expand your options and join the American Academy of Spine Physicians.
